Citing a deep appreciation of nature, especially water, Thom specializes in fish and dragonflies. He favors the Biological Study Format—where the species is shown in detail by itself— but artists such as Georges Seurat have also influenced his work. Over the years, he has created a wonderful network of contacts from all over the world which has allowed him to capture fish and dragonfly in incredible detail. Thom was named the Festival Artist of 2014 at the Virginia Fly Fishing Festival-the largest in the country of its kind. His work has appeared in many national and regional publications.
Thom is a North Carolina Tar Hell graduate. We went to school together, but in different years.
