Friday Fish Frame: Meet artist, Diane Rome Peebles

She’s the real deal – knows her stuff.

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]e don’t know Diane Rome Peebles, but like you – we know her work, that is of course if you eaten at Bonefish Grills’ (Florida) Outback Family Restaurants or seen the State of Florida’s official fish illustrations.

Peebles is a Tulane graduate as is her scientist, husband. They grew up a block away from each other in the “Big Easy,” but didn’t meet up until their senior year at college. Now, they live in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Diane, who studied to be a medical illustrator, diverged to become a collectible artist, with works going for as high as $20,000.

Some of her works graced the editors’ first book, Fly Fishing The Florida Keys (2005 / Amato Publications). And here’s a sampling of her artful depictions of fish we catch everyday in South Florida.
