[dropcap]I[/dropcap] do tend to repeat myself and this case is no different. I pimp this reel to anyone that will listen. I so often am asked what is the best reel to buy for anglers on a limited budget. In the past year, my answer has been the Redington Rise. It is the third generation of a workhorse reel from the Redington lineup. Redington sent us one of the 9/10 reels to test and we have been mightily impressed with its performance.

Pricing aside, this is an impressive design with large arbor, quick line pick up, smooth and strong drag system, and excellent finish. The skeletized frame and spool result in a lightweight design with aesthetic beauty and a clean style. When placed next to reels in it price class, the Rise III really impresses.

The Rise III is CNC machined from anodized 6061-T6 aluminum. This is a premium, lightweight, high quality material that results in strength and lightness. It’s compact carbon fiber drag system is smooth, powerful and light. The drag knob allows for easy and comfortable adjustment anytime you need it. Large arbor design allows for quick line pickup. It features twin molded ergonomic handle which we found comfortable and attractive. Conversion from left to right hand retrieve is simple and fast. The Rise III comes with a nylon storage case and lifetime warranty. They are available in amber, black and silver finishes. Mix and matching colors looks pretty cool also. This reel is currently available in sizes 3/4 through 9/10.

At around 200 beans, the Rise won’t break the bank and will offer you fine performance and reliability. As mentioned above, the reel is backed by Redington, a veteran company with superb customer service.
