Black Redfish Worm

[dropcap]M[/dropcap]y favorite fish is anything that swims the grass flats or on a fresh water stream. I like tying my own flies, actually my own variations of someone else’s patterns. My own inventions have proven fishless. Here, though, I stay on message – it catches reds and sea trout, largemouth bass and fresh water trout.  Almost no hesitation – it might be the new Woolly Bugger! Easy to tie? You bet. A dozen in 25 minutes. I tie it black as shown in the video, olive and tan on various size hooks, and hook styles as well as tube flies.

The video visual is not great, but with a modest amount of tying skill, it is easy to follow Chris’ lead.

Capt. Chris Myers is a credible and well respected flats of east central Florida guide (Mosquito Lagoon, the Indian River Lagoon, Banana River Lagoon).

NOTE: Featured Image is Redfish Worm, top; Clouser Minnow, bottom. Both are simple, effective flies for sight fishing redfish, black drum and sea trout.
