of Manhattan, New York
[dropcap]W[/dropcap]hile most fly anglers in the U. S. and Canada have stowed their fly rods for the winter and await April or May trout season openings, a small cadre of well-off anglers plan week long winter and spring trips. And here’s a trip to consider. Guyana’s EcoLodge at the confluence of the Rupununi and Rewa rivers – a community-tourism project of the Amerindian village of Rewa, a Makushi tribe of 300 people. It’s a remote location and sparse tourism volume has left the natural environment there virtually untouched and marvelously pristine.

It’s a hosted affair lead by Jon Fisher, managing partner of the Urban Angler, oddly, the only real fly shop in Manhattan, New York. Amazingly, it serves Gotham’s 7,000,000 fast-paced citizens.
You’ll be fishing for giant arapaima, arowana and peacock bass.
The group size is limited to five anglers and EcoLodge is limited, remarkably, to only 20 anglers per year!

The cost of the trip is $6,000. Cost includes: charter flights, accommodations, meals, and overnight in Georgetown if needed. Contact Jon for further details @ travel@urbanangler.com or (800) 255-5488. Website: Click here […]
