Yes, we fly anglers do use spinning and bait casting reels

With time constraints, I wander through the conventional fishing and accoutrements portion of the ICAST Show last week, which was at least 3 X bigger than the fly fishing (IFTD) section. I was forced to zero-in on what was of interest to me. Spinning reels. Last August, my old PENN ran out of heart beats.

After looking at Shimano reels and a few other reels, I tripped over PENN’s new Clash models and ordered the 2000 for light work and 5000 for heavier bag work. The clash models go from 2000 to offshore 8000. All are impressively light and had PENN sturdy written all over them.

Firearms, tools, reels and fly reels are something special to hold. My oft times fishing partner Sally says it’s a guy thing. OK Sally, not a problem.
