Tying the Albie Whore Fly

The albies are coming. Tying the Albie Whore

By Captain Andrew Derr

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]s the albies begin the march through the Northeast US, anglers are readying their fly boxes for the mayhem. One unique fly, invented by East End (Long Island) angler and fly tyer, Richard Reagan, this fly is an attractor pattern that can trigger strikes from albies when matching the hatch won’t work. It requires the use of a glue gun, which is a cheap and fun addition to your fly tying arsenal. Use sparkle glue sticks for a little more flash.

Reagan’s durable fly can be tied in a variety of sizes and colors. It doesn’t look like exactly anything, but sometimes it works. So next time you are out, and they just aren’t biting, maybe throw ’em the whore.
