Yes, of course, what is it? Well, no one can say it’s “like” – because there’s nothing even close to it on the market so we’ll start by confusing you. It’s a fishing, hunting or exploring vessel with a structurally rotomolded polyethylene monococque hull. So what is that? The hull of the MOKAI-ES structurally supports loads via the external skin, similar to a ping-pong ball or egg shell.
This unique vessel is powered by 7-hp Subaru 4-stroke electric start – environmentally friendly engine that’s coupled to a jet drive propulsion system. You can expect to scoot in 4-inches of water at 17-mph with no propeller to worry about. There are three section: engine section (80-pounds with engine – approximately), cockpit section (70-pounds – approximately) and bow section (15-pounds – approximately). The assembled length is 11-foot 3-inches and weighs in at 165-pounds with a carrying capacity of 360-pounds. There’s plenty of storage space.
The engineered tolerances allow for water-tight connections and rapid (minutes) – no tools required assembly. The new design features a stepped-planing hull that reduces drag without compromising the water flow required by the jet drive. The owner says the new hydro-dynamically designed hull’s overall performance is improved stability and maneuverability, with greater structural integrity.
The low center of gravity allows an angler to stand, pole or paddle when stealth is called for.
The MOKAI-ES can be trailered, car-topped or carried in a vehicle disassembled. The longest section is the cockpit which is 6-foot 5-inches – approximately.
Standard accoutrements are: cover, engine carry bag, paddle, fire extinguisher and a survival pack.
