BHA Inks National Agreement with Forest Service to Acknowledge, Advance Collaborative Partnerships
Shared values are celebrated in signing ceremony

[dropcap]B[/dropcap]ackcountry Hunters & Anglers and the U.S. Forest Service signed a national partnership agreement this week to document ongoing cooperation between the two entities and expand possibilities for collaborative engagement in the future.

The national master agreement acknowledges the broad mutual benefits of continued partnership to both BHA and the Forest Service. BHA, the fastest growing group of sportsmen and women in North America, has a robust and expanding boots-on-the-ground presence and closely tracks resource policy decisions that affect public lands and waters important to hunters and anglers. Through the new master agreement, BHA’s network of passionate and dedicated public lands advocates stands to contribute in new ways to public lands stewardship through volunteerism, service work, educational outreach and grassroots promotion and embodiment of the vital link between conservation and America’s hunting and angling heritage.
BHA Conservation Director John Gale emphasized the agreement’s value to the two signatories as well as to hunters, anglers and other public land owners
“Whether you’re swinging flies for steelhead and stalking elk in the West or drifting tiny dries for brook trout and chasing woodcock in the East, American hunters and anglers understand the value of our national forest system,” said BHA Conservation Director John Gale.

Rob Harper, national director of water, fish, air and rare plants for the Forest Service, shared in Gale’s enthusiasm. “Through our partnership with BHA, an organization which has done a fantastic job of building an energized community around our nation’s public lands legacy, the Forest Service stands to engage a new generation of active, service-oriented conservationists,” said Harper. “I hope that through our collaboration we can welcome and inspire more people to play a public service role in the stewardship of our public lands.”
Gale and Harper signed the agreement this week during the 84th annual North American Wildlife and Resource Conference, which convenes top U.S. policymakers, biologists and others to weigh in on natural resource issues.
