The Ultra Shrimp is a super realistic shrimp pattern for snook, redfish, bonefish, tarpon, permit, speckled trout or anything that feeds in shrimp.  The Ultra Shrimp was developed by fly tying legend Bob Popovics

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Ultra Shrimp is actually a fairly simple fly to tie, despite the super realistic appearance.  The Ultra Shrimp can be tied in a variety of sizes and colors.  Although the most popular is the shrimp color, the white and olive colors are also very effective.  The Ultra Shrimp is a really fun fly to tie and a must have in any basic saltwater fly box.  Give one a try and put your UV Glue skills to the test!

UV Glue Note:
When using large amounts of UV Glue, a “tackiness” or “greasy” feeling will remain.  You can “bake” the tacky flies outside in the sunlight to help cure the glue completely.  This allows competition for the free radical bond between the oxygen monomer and other free radicals, so the polymerization can occur with the UV in natural sunlight.

All of the UV resins are also soluble in isopropyl alcohol, so you can remove the tack with rubbing alcohol or an alcohol based hand sanitizer.  Then you can coat the resin with head cement or Sally Hansen’s.
