FlyLifeMagazine.com [FLM]: Fernando, isn’t this the third year of the Cumberland Valley Fly Fishing and Outdoor Festival?
Fernando Regencio, Jr. [FR/TCO] is the event coordinator for TCO Fly Shop and in charge of organizing the CVFFOF 2022 at the Allenberry [fernando@tcoflyfishing.com
No, We had to postpone this event due to the pandemic… but we are thrilled to be back this year!
FLM: Thom Glace mentioned TCO was adding some interesting festival happenings that are not mentioned in the PR.
FR/TCO: Yes, Locally renowned Fly Tyer Tom Baltz will be tying flies from 10-3 on Saturday in the Cellar room located in Fairfield Hall, which is the main Allenberry building with the restaurant.
FLM: Anything else?
The Pennsylvania Fly Fishing Association will be there, providing an opportunity for Boy Scouts to earn their Fly Fishing Merit Badge.
Other than that, we have great raffles where a portion of the proceeds goes to The Cumberland Valley TU Chapter’s Barnitz Church Stream Stabilization Project and the ClearWater Conservancy. The mission of ClearWater Conservancy is to conserve and restore our natural resources through land conservation, water resources stewardship, and environmental outreach across central Pennsylvania.
We will also have live music and a festive atmosphere all night.
FLM: That schedule should wear anyone out. We wish we could be there.
If you are at the festival this weekend, remember you are on the Yellow Breeches, at Allenberry, and figuratively speaking, the Letort Spring Run is next door and is where this Salmo trutta was caught and released – a commissioned work some years ago done by Thom Glace. So bring a rod and have a go. FYI: Yellow Breeches Creek, also known as Callapatscink Creek, Callapatschink Creek or Shawnee Creek is a 56.1-mile-long tributary of the Susquehanna River in central Pennsylvania, USA. There is no agreed upon explanation for the name Yellow Breeches Creek, which is found in land warrants as early as 1736.
