Air pollution

All the major outlets are reporting on the chaos caused by this week’s environmental betrayal from the White House

By Henry Clement

He loves attention—needs it

“Revoking the 2009 Endangerment Finding removes the entire legal basis for the federal government to regulate or control the greenhouse gas emissions that are heating our planet and threatening our economy, our families, and our fishing. Which means that the government will no longer be able to limit the greenhouse gases, which remain the single greatest threat to our angling.” — Hatch Magazine

Sarcastically, it seems that poor health is now considered a benefit

Thank goodness, according to current leadership, air pollution isn’t harmful to us. Poor health, early death, and children suffering from compromised lung function are dismissed as collateral damage. Trump has spoken, and his supporters, along with the Fox propaganda machine, continue to spread this narrative into millions of homes across America.

“Who cares?”

Let’s all embrace ignorance and follow Trump’s lead

“This is about as big as it gets,” President Trump said at the White House as a smiling Lee Zeldin, the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, stood nearby. “We are officially terminating the so-called ‘endangerment finding,’ a disastrous Obama-era policy,” he said.

Fear not

In addition, even though the scientific consensus states the dangers of human-induced warming, Trump has called climate change a “hoax,” concluding that endangerment to the environment and our fisheries has “no basis in fact.” Trump cemented his vast knowledge for all but Fox News cultists to hear, stating that “climate scientists are stupid people.”

What’s next?

Maybe we should abandon science altogether, allowing Trump to lead us further into a world of ignorance. Instead of enjoying healthy outdoor activities like fly fishing, we might as well sit on our couches, masks on, and watch the 2006 cult classic Idiocracy as a preview of what’s to come.
