[dropcap]E[/dropcap]ver since doctors found that fly casting can be therapeutic for breast cancer patients, Casting for Recovery (CFR) and its free weekend retreats have expanded to more than 40 states and into Canada and, in the process, have helped thousands of women.

For the fourth year, a CFR retreat will be held in central Florida on April 6-8 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Lake Mary. The deadline for application is Feb. 22.

Each year, Betty Brown of Cocoa has volunteered with the program and she edits the CFR-Florida newsletter.

“The purpose is to show women the simple things they can do through fly tying, fly casting and other exercises to expand flexibility, which facilitates easier breathing and movement,” Brown said.
