[dropcap]A[/dropcap] new limit on striped bass caught in the ocean off Virginia’s coast has gone into effect.  Anglers can now keep only one striped bass measuring at least 28 inches. Previously, the regulations allowed for anglers to keep two fish.

Charter boat captains clamor that the new regulations will ruin business while many conservation minded anglers look forward to a reduction in mortality and the rebuilding of depleted stocks. Recently, the ASMFC ruled that they would implement a 25% reduction in harvest within one year.
