[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he San Diego Jamb Knot is often confused with the the Duncan Loop, but the knots are very different. The Duncan Loop wraps inside of the loop – doubling the line back, and it’s wrapped upward. The San Diego Jam is wrapped around the outside – down the two lines.

The only trick to tying this is holding the loop open at the top (To the right as seem below.) with thumb and forefinger.

In this YouYube video the tyer builds the knot doubling the line an creates a Doubled San Diego Jamb Knot. The knot strength of this knot, correctly tied, is far greater than the Improved Clinch and much, much stronger than the Duncan Loop, or as it’s commonly mis-named, the Uni-Knot.
