[dropcap]E[/dropcap]ver get your fly stuck high on a tree or in a bush behind you? How about in an opening with bushes or trees a few feet away from you on both sides? Well, you should learn how to use a roll cast and the steeple cast.
Here’s two videos that do a good job of teaching how to effectively use each of those casting techniques and the subtleties within the techniques.
The first video is the roll cast – the basis of all double handed casts and must be learned. It will keep your fly in the water sooner – no false casting.
The second video is about the steeple cast, which is not as efficient as the roll cast, but useful and should be learned.
