[dropcap]W[/dropcap]e are prepared for you to laugh at this ridiculous looking fly (egg pattern?), but ask at any fly shop in Alaska and this little “thang” will out-sell a lot of traditional patterns – for a good reason.Egg patterns work but some will call it cheating. Some fly fisherman draw that ethical line at dry flies, some at nymphing. Somewhere below that lies a line with the words “egg pattern” written on it.
