Is this our future? – Envato

Shrugging off Democracy is underway; it is how we lose our public lands

By TJ Douglas, retired USMC Sergeant Major, fly fisher, fly tyer, fly casting instructor, bamboo fly rod craftsman, six pack captain, and protester

The image of Beale in a khaki raincoat with his wet hair plastered to his head, standing up during the middle of his newscast saying, “I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!” is often listed as one of the most iconic in film history.

The majority of Americans do not invest enough time in politics, nor do they seem to want to. As a result, media outlets like Fox News can thrive amidst a landscape of misrepresentations and outright lies.

The sentiment expressed in “Do Not Disturb Me, I’m Busy Living” allows both voting and non-voting Americans to dismiss Trump’s self-aggrandizement and anti-constitutional lawlessness as merely “Trump being Trump.”

News Flash: New MAGA proposal would require the Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service to identify and sell between 2.2 million and 3.3 million acres.

We get what we deserve

His self-serving behavior is becoming normalized, and as my youngest brother puts it, “We’ll get what we deserve.” This normalization will encourage other politicians to exploit their positions for personal gain. The resulting damage will undermine our government, society, and economy, which is already evident.

Historically, when corruption becomes the norm in a country, economic growth suffers and living standards stagnate.

Under Mr. Trump, the United States is sliding down a slippery slope of failure with little resistance, and we, too busy to analyze his words or actions, remain shamefully passive.

Each day brings a new news cycle. How can anyone plan anything when chaos, tariffs, hatred, the seizure of public lands, and disunity are being sold?

Sending the US Marine Corps to Los Angeles on so-called standby is an inflammatory, politically motivated act intended to incite unrest. It is difficult to ignore the authoritarian message behind Trump’s troop deployment strategy. Drawing parallels to historical authoritarianism, it worked well in Hitler’s rise, divided by scaring the public about goblins next door. Many have observed that it also serves as a distraction from the declining relationship with Elon Musk.

General Mattis’ complete statement from June 2020 is more than timely

IN UNION THERE IS STRENGTH: I have watched this week’s unfolding events, angry and appalled. The words “Equal Justice Under Law” are carved in the pediment of the United States Supreme Court. This is precisely what protesters are rightly demanding. It is a wholesome and unifying demand — one that all of us should be able to get behind. We must not be distracted by a small number of lawbreakers. The protests are defined by tens of thousands of people of conscience who are insisting that we live up to our values — our values as people and our values as a nation. .  .” Click here to read the complete and timely statement.

In response to the deployment, Governor Newsom criticized Trump, calling him “unhinged” and saying he speaks like an “authoritarian.” A key aspect of Title 10 is that the National Guard reports to the president, not to California’s Governor, Gavin Newsom.

Have MAGA supporters ever noticed?

Trump lacks humor and self-awareness. His idea of a joke is often a crude comment, an illiterate insult, or a casual act of cruelty.

Trump acts like a troll, and like all trolls, he is never funny and never laughs; he only gloats or ridicules. There is no underlying irony, complexity, nuance, or depth in his actions—it’s all surface-level. This may be refreshing for MAGA supporters, but it isn’t for most Americans.

Trump is a bully, except when he is around other bullies; then he transforms into a coward

There have always been foolish people in the world, as well as many unpleasant ones. However, it is rare for stupidity to be so vile, or for maliciousness to be so foolish. He makes Nixon seem trustworthy and George W. look intelligent. In fact, if Frankenstein were to create a monster assembled entirely from human flaws, it would resemble Trump. — Nate White British writer

Maybe you do not know, but silence like a cancer grows

I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without thinking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices will never share

And no one dared disturb the sound of silence

NOTE: The words are edited/ Paul Simon authored The Sound of Silence. He wrote the song in his parents’ bathroom, using the sound of running water as a “white noise” to help him concentrate. He was 21 years old at the time.
