It seldom happens and is not often the fix needed. Still, when it is required, your window of opportunity would surely pass if you do not know how to add a weed guard to an already completed fly and incorporate a loop of mono into the pattern itself.
“Go to the truck and tie a new fly with a weed guard and come back.” Yeah, sure
