[dropcap]W[/dropcap]hat came first: the rooster or its beautiful plumage? For Tom Whiting, owner and founder of Whiting Farms, the two go hand-in-hand. The Colorado-based poultry genetics and production company specializes in breeding roosters whose stunning feathers are mainly sold for fly fishing. With a rooster taking a full year to grow to maturity and around 80,000 on site, Whiting’s work is a true labor of love.
