Recently, and unexpectedly, we lost a true icon of conservation, equipage, rigging, casting, fly fishing, and a strong voice for the protection of Florida’s vanishing Everglades wilderness.

By Henry Clement

1942 – 2025

While he is widely recognized for his popular outdoor and TV series, his true impact on the environmental community goes far beyond that. For serious fly fishers, Flip Pallot was known for his innovative approaches and insights.

Pallot was a longtime TV host who made a significant mark in the medium before launching his beloved “Walker’s Cay Chronicles” in the early 1990s. He also frequently appeared on shows like “The American Sportsman” and “Outdoor Life,” and he was instrumental in creating and launching “The Saltwater Angler.”

If you’re not familiar with Flip Pallot, take a moment to Google him

You’ll want to explore topics like fly casting, leader rigging, knots, flies, fiberglass fly rods, graphite fly rods, conservation, skiffs, and anything related to fly fishing or the Everglades. Delving into his work will reveal much of his valuable contributions to both the sport and the environment.
